“This is New Brighton. Yes, New Brighton.” – Dom Joly on His Unexpected Night Out

We could go on about how Rockpoint is changing the game in New Brighton. We could talk about the investment, the creative energy, the bars, the culture, the music. But honestly? We’ll just leave it to Dom Joly:
“I had one look at New Brighton – no offence – and I thought, I’m going to get viciously stabbed here.”
That was his first impression. But stay with us.
Dom had been doing a show at the Floral Pavilion, came out afterwards, parched and looking for a drink. A local pointed him “just around the corner.” He expected a dive. Instead, he walked into what he called:
“Sort of a bar, pub, music store... and everyone was just playing guitars.”

It felt, he said, like what he imagined Liverpool would have been like in the sixties:
“Just kids playing guitars. Everyone seemed to be in a band... we got free drinks... It was f***ing amazing.”

He didn’t even get the name of the place. Just wandered back to London the next day with a slightly sore head and a glowing review of New Brighton. That place was Rockpoint Records!

So yeah, don’t just take our word for it. Take Dom’s. Come visit the Victoria Quarter and see what the fuss is about.
